Seven year old Coco is one of the rescues Sanctuary residents
and not available for adoption. She has experienced physical
mistreatment in her previous homes therefore developing
serious defensive and aggressive behaviors. For years Coco
was a dog you loved from the other side of the fence. She
was extremely guarded and uncomfortable with close human
interaction. As the rescue spends more time with her she
is slowly beginning to allow them into her world however
her trust has never been simple. She can roll onto her back
asking for affection and enjoy scratches and attention but
then will suddenly become frightened or defensive. Her body
language and temperament can change very quickly. Over the
years she has made tremendous progress and now regularly
interacts with familiar staff and volunteers. She seeks
out attention, plays, and is very enthusiastic about treats.
She may never be a dog who can safely be adopted into a
strange home so the rescue feels it’s their responsibility
to make sure she has one at the rescue where she feels safe
and is loved.
Special
Needs if any: Lots of love and patience.
